Thankfully the heavy rain of the week before finally relented and we were blessed with a fantastic sunny day in Lancaster for the Vale of Lune Minis Festival.
Rossendale U8s had 5 matches scheduled -
Preston Grasshoppers White
Waterloo
Preston Grasshoppers Red
Vale of Lune Red
Garstang Blue
6 tag limit leading to a turnover and 6 minutes each way format was adopted for the day.
The following squad were able to make the trip (Mothers day plans re-arranged many thanks parents!)
Alfie, Ethan, Feddie, George, Henry, Rory and Tom.
Rossendale acquitted themselves very well against some well drilled and organised teams. Plenty of trys on offer and some great defense on show. Unfortunately I negated to keep any scores - I think we won 2 and lost 3.
We have discovered one area that needs a bit of work from the tournament - restarts. I suspect that we will be working on this in training over the remainder of the season.
Our newly inaugurated player of the week award went to George - this was for the hard work he has shown in training on Tuesday nights coupled with a stellar performance including some great trys at the tournament.
Well done everyone - Chris and I were very pleased with the attitude and commitment displayed and hopefully we can keep this up going into the last set of fixtures in April.
