Dukinfield 25 - 50 Rossendale

Both teams entered into the spirit of the game and played good rugby with a very slippery ball. Rossendale opened the scoring with a fine break by Oliver Molloy in the first 3 minutes which he backed up with another score. Will Gledhill showed a fantastic turn of pace and sidestep at times and scored 3 tries. This is their first season of tackling and it was very rewarding to see the players getting stuck in and tackle. The team showed improvement in their defence with a special mention to Sam Green and George Allen who tackled very strongly and who between them scored 5 tries. Rory May showed some excellent passing and a huge improvement in his tackling. Despite some good individual runs the team gelled well together and there was some strong running by all the players including Jude Ferrie and Joshua Hamilton. A mention most go out to Declan from Dukinfield who played an absolute blinder scoring some strong tries and also tackling his heart out. We also had two new players Derek Bulling and Callum Whelan who slotted in very well for their first appearance and whom ran confidently with the ball. Everyone deserved man of the match but it was eventually awarded to Derek Bulling for making such a good start. At the end of the game both teams left the pitch shaking hands and all credit to the referee Mr Haywood from the under 16’s at Dukinfield who kept the game flowing throughout.
