First time out for this years U9s team and only 2 weeks basic training!

Some serious precipitation in the days leading up the first match of the 2011-12 season, saw Colne & Nelson’s generally moist pitch produce some thoroughly damp conditions underfoot. Despite this, the whole team threw themselves into the game with aplomb. Coach Cains allocated the captaincy for the game to Christian, who took to the task like a duck to water, helping to keep the team motivated and in order. The two new recruits, Marley & Jonathan, both acquitted themselves brilliantly, with some super speedy darts down the wings and superbly committed tackling.

Unfortunately however, and even with their best efforts, the boys were unable to pull off a victory, faced with a consummate performance from Colne & Nelson. The U9s team now know that some of their practice targets must be their “line of steel” tackle and defense, together with darting bursts of speed, endurance and teamwork going forward.

Following the post-match hotdog refresher, the team left Colne & Nelson motivated and looking forward to next week’s home match against Burnley, with “Man of the Match” from this outing to be announced back at Marl Pitts in a week’s time.
