Lost 30 - 20 but with man down ! thanks Dizzey

This was a much better performance all-round and the lads were excellent. Midweek training last Thursday has really helped and it was great to see the lads carrying the ball BUT passing !! It must be the passing weekend after England's fabulous win yesterday. We were still doing our crab impressions at times (and they know who they are) but it was better, and we will work on this in training.
During pre-match training at Ashton we worked hard at our drills and are now learning how to take the ball in present it and rip it properly. We need to work on this and think what arm/shoulder we use when ripping the ball ..(if your player presents the ball to your right you rip with your right arm/shoulder and if they present the ball to your left you rip with your left arm/ shoulder!) ...it will come....
The first half was very impressive with some great passing and running, we still need to work on our tackling and stop crab impressions but a huge improvement. Oliver scored two good tries one in the corner and one in the middle with some nifty footwork. George could have scored a try but he dropped the ball over the line (let's sack the captain..hehehe), however give him some due he led the team very well won good ball again for the team and scored an excellent try in the corner. The scrum was much stronger this week and we won lots of their ball with Shaun, Derek and George really gritting their teeth and egging each other on.... again a much better performance in this discipline. STOP PRESS NEWS Jude scores his first try and everyone in Ashton now knows well done and keep up the better discipline!!! Mentioning discipline this was a much better day with Nathan accepting the bench very well and really trying hard when he came on. This policy will continue so work hard on behaviour/ discipline on Thursday !
Tackling men of the match for me were Sam, Callum George and Oliver with most improved going to Ben who showed good technique well done ! Sam keep showing those big lads how to tackle !
Derek had a blinder today with good upper body strength in the mauls and some very strong running nearly scoring a couple of times... a very well deserved man of the match well done !! Johnny braved the cold again and made some good runs and tackles. (leave my van alone !!!)
I really enjoy going to Ashton and they are great hosts - thanks to Andy and his lads who played very well led by a good captain.
Okay so the best to last Dizzey made a blunder I took 10 players knowing I need 9 on the pitch but unfortunately I miscounted and put 2 players on the bench. It was not till I gave man of the match out in the club did I realise we played 8 versus 9 !!! what a plonker I am ......Sorry !!!!!! However why did none of the parents, Martin or George also pick this up !
See you Thursday keep up the good work I was really impressed with the improvement and attitude- Duckinfield away next week !!
