Great Draw Great Day - Rossendale Under 10's

Firstly thanks to Andy and the Ashton Management for letting us swap the fixture to Ashton so the game could go ahead.
This was a great game and very very close. Rossendale had much of the early possession but could not convert points with Ahston defending very well. Likewise the Rossendale defence was excellent with George and Oliver leading the tackle count with some big hits from Shaun and Ben. There was still too much short pulling and we will need to work on our skills here.
Ashton scored the first try with a breakaway effort from their half however heads did not go down and Ben decided that today was going to be the day that he stood up and show us what he could do. Our supporters were amazed as he made some excellent runs and went over for a well-deserved try - Huge no massive improvement - Most improved and Man of the match all in one.
The scrum was very dominant and we won a lot of ball against the head with Shaun leading the charge with Ben and Derek. Some excellent work by Shaun saw him score two tries well done.
The line out continued to work well with George and Shaun competing very well.
Birthday boy Oliver continued his excellent work on the field with a lot of darting runs and several try saving tackles. With a couple of minutes to go and 20-15 down the coach asked for the ball to go to Olly who levelled the game which on reflection was absolutely the right result.
The team played well today and it was good to see us starting to think about mauling and rucking and supporting the ball carrier so to the rest of the team I have not mentioned Natasha, Johnny, Nathan, Kieron, Callum, Jude, Derek WELL PLAYED !!
