Didsbury TOCH 15 Rossendale 10 & Rossendale 15 Aspull 20

Rossendale Under 10's headed south to our friends at Didsbury for an excellent morning out in the sunshine. Thanks to Nigel from Didsbury for again being a great host and making us feel so welcome.
The first match was against Didsbury who soon went in the lead with a couple of tries. Rossendale were slow out of the blocks and were on the back foot until Olly took the game by the scruff of the neck and ran in a very well deserved try. This takes Olly up to played 19 scored 21 a fantastic set of stats. The scrum held out very well again and Rossendale won clean ball against a bigger pack and credit to Shaun, Derek, Ben, Natasha and Jordan who stood up well to the task.
Callum continued to march up the scoring table with an excellent solo try in the corner.
Rossendale's defence stood firm today and fitness levels were excellent.
Natasha again put in an excellent display of tackling as did Ellis who continues to make huge improvement in only his first season.
Will came on after 10 minutes and straight away made a huge impact in both defence and attack and made some strong runs.
Rossendale still need to work on their rucking and contact losing ball at times and not monopolising on good runs - too much daisy watching ! Nigel from the opposition was very impressed with George and gave him a medal for being man of the match well done !
In the second game Rossendale had a tough ask against a mainly under 11 team however although much smaller they were certainly not outplayed and showed superior fitness especially in the second half.
There was some very strong running by the Smallridges who made some excellent holes as did Derek who continues to show his strength. Rossendale came back strongly after being 2 tries down and George scored 3 tries crashing into players double his size.
Jude continues to make huge improvement and after his man of the match performance last week ripped the ball very well and made some good tackles and Kieron came off the bench well when asked and continued to play with huge enthusiasm.
Tackle of the day has to go to Olly who made a try saving tackle in the corner again ! well done.
Rossendale do need to work on their passing game and try to use the space better as we are still looking to run as individuals. The most important factor is that we enjoy our rugby and from the smiles on the lads and girls and parents we must take great heart.
A great day out!
