“A game of two halves”, this phrase was invented for Sundays Under 10’s match against Liverpool St. Helens. Rossendale conceded a try in the opening minute & had conceded two more by half time.
During the interval Coach Beeken must have had some inspirational words for his players as the second half saw the games fortunes reversed. Within minutes Rossendale’s Joe Bedlow went over for their first try. Soon afterwards good support from Haig Howarth and Harry Skinner allowed, Ieuan Dwyfor-Jones to crash through the Liverpool St. Helens defence leaving Rossendale only one score behind. End to end play ensued & with two minutes to go a strong run from Joe Bedlow earned him his second try levelling the scores.
Liverpool St. Helens pressed hard for the winning try but strong defence from Tyler Johnson & Ioan Evans kept the visitors out until the final whistle.
This was a hard fought draw for Rossendale U10’s and all credit should go to all the team for a truly fantastic team performance.
