Rossendale U10’s lost 60–40 to an Ashton side that were very fast out of the blocks.

Despite playing the first half with the wind behind and having the slope in their favour, Rossendale struggled to cope with the direct running of the Ashton side. Despite conceding six first half tries, Rossendale managed two of their own through the strong and skilful running of Oliver Leah and Nuri Stoner.
An inspirational talk from coaches Paul Beeken and Mark Stoner saw a different Rossendale team appear for the second half. Rossendale began to put consistent pressure on the Ashton team with more direct running and better support play. They opened their second half account with a try from Josh Beeken which was just reward for several strong runs he had made at the Ashton defence. The game moved from end to end as both teams sought to keep the ball alive and exploit gaps in stretched defences. Tries were now being scored freely, with Nuri Stoner, Tyler Johnson, Oliver Leah and Dan Dunham all adding to the Rossendale tally. The Rossendale scoring was rounded off by Nuri Stoner who deservedly completed a hat-trick, after a very strong performance with the ball in hand.
Rossendale matched Ashton try for try in the second half, with a much improved performance.
