Rossendale U10's 20-40 Littleborough U10's

The first minute of play in this match set the tone for the rest of the encounter which proved a thrilling display of attacking rugby played at pace by both sides. Littleborough drew first blood scoring a try on their first foray into the Rossendale half. The home side were quick to respond and after a spell of fierce rucking where the Rossendale forwards pushed their team deep into the opposition half, Josh Beeken pounced on the loose ball and crossed the try line.

Littleborough scored twice more before Rossendale replied with a try from Captain Elliott Newell, who took possession some yards out, with work to do, he rounded his rival defence and scored in the corner, his first try for the club.

Despite strong tackling from Dan Dunham in the centre and Joe Bedlow on both wings Littleborough managed two more try's before half time stretching their lead to 25:10.

A determined Rossendale took to the field in the second half, Nuri Stoner & Tyler Johnson launched several spirited charges at the Littleborough line before eventually Nuri was able to feed Ieuan Dwyfor-Jones who's quick thinking led to Rossendale's third try. Fast end to end rugby ensued and as both defences became stretched Ieuan Dwyfor-Jones exploited a gap in the Littleborough line to score in the corner.

The match was evenly poised at 4 try's to 5 to the visitors, unfortunately they made the most of their possession in the last quarter scoring three more try's to prove worthy winners 40:20.

This was an excellent display of rugby from both sides. Rossendale were much improved and should take much encouragement from their performance.
