Rossendale RUFC U10's Sunday 15th April 2012 - Take the positives

The first game saw Rossendale take on a very well drilled Didsbury outfit.
Rossendale played well as a team showing good support play, fierce tackling & strong rucking particularly from Sam Ashworth & Tyler Johnson. Despite having equal possession, the difference between the teams was the decisive finishing from the Didsbury's backs, leading to a final score of 30-0 to Didsbury.

Rossendale showed the same determination in the second game but benefitted from far more decisive finishing. Ieuan Dwyfor-Jones opened the scoring following a well worked passage of play and slick handling between Joe Bedlow & Tyler Johnson, leaving Ieuan in the open to score. Further scores from Dan Dunham & Joe Bedlow lead to a half time score of 15-15.

The second half was equally close and Rossendale grew in confidence, showing great determination in defence & a willingness to keep the ball alive in attack. Josh Beeken at scrum half linked well with his backs and both Oliver Leah & Rowan Hopkinson made some good attacking runs. The game moved from end to end and Ioan Evans & Elliott Newell put in some good tackles to stall the Ashton attack. Despite 2 further tries from Joe Bedlow to notch up his hat trick, they were unlucky to concede the losing try in the dying seconds of the game. The final score being 30-25 to Ashton-under-Lyne.

The final game saw Didsbury triumph over Ashton-under-Lyne 35-15 in another fast moving encounter.

If Rossendale can continue to build on their performance & take heart from their strong team spirit they should enjoy some success next weekend when they travel to Windermere for the International Mini Rugby Tournament.
