Rossendale U10's along with the U7's, U8's, U9's & U11's travelled to Windermere in order to take part in the International Mini Rugby Tournament (IMRT). The tournament took place over two days. On Saturday the U10's played, from Edinburgh - Watsonians A, Southport and Penrith. On Sunday they played Watsonian, Liverpool Collegiate and Broad Street from Coventry.
All six games proved to be a tough test for the U10's and they were forced to tackle fiercely to keep in touch with their opponents in every match, including a spectacular flying tackle from Ieuan Dwyfor-Jones to deny Southport what looked like an almost certain score.
The U10's grew in confidence over the weekend and developed a more sound structure both in attack & defence, consequently they were rewarded with two try's from Joe Bedlow and one from Rowan Hopkinson. They were unfortunate not to gain a victory but their efforts over the course of the weekend deserved much applause.
Rossendale U10's awarded Player's player of the tournament to Haig Howarth for his outstanding defensive work and the Coach's player of the tournament went to Joe Bedlow for his overall commitment & contribution.
There was a good turnout by the player's parents most of whom camped at nearby Rydal Hall Campsite with one or two of the visitors opting to stay at the venue, the Lakes School, Troutbeck Bridge.
The player's parents also provided some entertainment by participating in a seven a side touch rugby game against their Scottish cousins, Watsonians being narrowly beaten by 3 try's to one. Great thanks go to the tournament organisers and to the Rossendale coaches and Gary in particular for ensuring that everyone involved had a great weekend.
