Rossendale welcomed Warrington for their first visit to Marl Pits and were looking forward to another tough game against a side in the top pool of Lancashire teams. Warrington definitely started the game the better, with good ball distribution and penetrating runs, whilst Dale struggled to get any form of continuity or momentum. Warrington's defence was strong too, but Rossendale make in-roads into Wires territory and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions. However, mistakes saw the ball turned over too many times. Warrington ran in three unanswered tries in the first half, with the half ending Rossendale 0 - 17 Warrington.
After a few encouraging words and a couple of changes, Dale came out the second half and started with some better patterns of play, but were still under the cosh from Warrington for much of the second half too. The Rossendale defence held though, and some good tackling kept Dale in the game. Mark Rutherford-Shaw managed to pick up from the base of the scrum, and despite the attention of the Warrington scrum half, made a few metres before shipping the ball to James Willetts who evaded the scrambling Wires defence to score under the posts. James Willetts also added the extras. Dale's second try came from a short, but sustained, period of pressure from Dale, when Isaac Cornwall crashed over the line to score, again converted by James Willetts. This was the last score, ending the game at Rossendale 14 - 17 Warrington.
Man of the match went to James Willetts, for persistence and effort and the pivotal try.
