Eccles played host to Rossendale U14s, with Dale looking to avenge their defeat at Marl Pits. Right from the kick-off, Rossendale looked a little slow to react and put themselves under pressure with too many mistakes. Eccles eventually broke through in the eighth minute when one of their larger lads brushed his way through the Dale defence. The home side came close again a few minutes later, but fortunately for the visitors, the referee saw the forward pass from Eccles a few metres out from the try line. It was only a temporary respite, as Eccles ran in another try under the posts. Finally, Dale got a score on the board after Rhys Tighe took a quick penalty form the edge of the twenty-two and barrelled over to score. Ciaran Campbell converted to make the half-time score Eccles 10-7 Rossendale.
After some words of encouragement at half-time, Dale came out looking much stronger and more organised, and quickly put themselves ahead after Hashim Khan picked up from the back of a ruck and drove his way through several Eccles defenders to score, again converted by Ciaran Campbell. Unfortunately, this was the last Dale score, whilst Eccles ran in two further unconverted tries to make the final score Eccles 20-14 Rossendale. Man of the match went to Sam Irving, for tireless effort, some big tackles and a couple of excellent turnovers.
