Both teams arrived to play at Marl Pits with reduced numbers and players in unusual positions - thank half term and unfortunate injuries.
Trafford showed they wanted a game from the kick off with some driving forward play for many sides to be envious of. Unfortunately this forward power wasn't backed up by defensive strength and once the ball had left their grasp our boys went to work through growing confidence in their new systems and some straight running from the slightly makeshift back line to score heavily in the first half.
Trafford had lost a couple to injury to make matters worse so a quick chat between the coaches saw some of Rossendale graciously swap shirts and play for the opposition. The spirit of the sport remains alive. Trafford didn't give in and were justly rewarded with a couple of nicely worked tries. Thanks to Will, Oscar and Shaun for their sportsmanship.
The ravages of half term continue but this was a useful run out for the lads, allowing new and less experienced players to bed in before tougher tests. Also to show we can reshuffle and still make an impact if we are forced to - well done to all the boys. Thanks to Miles for stepping up with his whistle and to parents for their support and promises of financial rewards for tries scored...hopefully it will be a costly season.
Have a good one.
