U14s secure vital Cup win against Littleborough

It's fair to say the Lancashire Cup competition hasn't gone our way this season...a few reasons...this match was important after some last minute rescheduling from December and ahead of the next Cup fixture next week.

This team has been to Littleborough a lot since the earliest of tag rugby days and it's almost always been a tight match and, over that time, honours more or less shared. The boys needed to be up for it and thankfully they were.

A strong first half saw the opposition rooted in their own 22 on a short, square pitch despite a few decisions not going our way from the ref. At half time things were looking okay with a good lead for our boys 21 - 0. Sure enough Litteborough came out hard for the second half and pinned us back before scoring from a short line out.

The most pleasing thing to watch was how this team responded to this score which was to redouble their efforts as a team. They chased and harried and covered back in defence which turned into attack and gave us three more well deserved scores to close the Cup result out five minutes before time (35 - 5) and the final score 40 - 5.

Well played boys. More, much more, needed of the same team spirit next week.
