best performance for 2yrs

well where to begin. what a horrible day for rugby, mud , rain , hailstone then more mud. on a day where you had to be mad to even consider ventureing outdoors, the under 14,s were off on there travels yet again. on arrival at duckinfield , the name was quickly changed to duckpond, because that is what it resembled.all credit to ronnie the duckies coach for attempting to make the pitch a bit better by leveling out the water and mud. this was to be the day when everything over the past 2 seasons went right for dale. from the moment the lads got changed and began the warm up we could sense something scary was about to unfold. the mental attitude of the guys would have been a credit to first team, in horrendous conditions the guys went through there warm up routines appearing to ignore the conditions and just focus on the up and comeing encounter. the game got off to a nervous first 5 mins for dale as they gave away a n early knock on from kick off due to duckies useing conditions to there advantage and playing ball just above ground level. the resulting scrum however gave dale a chance to show they meant buisness with a fantastic strike and ball steal against the head. the whole pack worked tirelessly through out the game and really layed a platform for dale to work from . it didnt take long for dale to register first try from Ben Cameron who weaved his way through a duckies back line to touch down . just a couple of mins respite for duckies and dale were in again , this time a fine run from Kyle Entwistle down the wing. dale were begining to take control and play some fantastic rugby. everything seemed to click into place, the rucking and mauling were a joy to watch and duckies forwards had no answer.another quick try from Ben Cameron again saw duckies heads drop. agreat kick from Kyle in difficult conditions made it 17 -0 after 15 mins.the next try was well worked by the rossendale backs who moved the ball about to make opening for Josh Harrison to burst through and go half lenght of pitch for great try. this is 1 forward who is now playing to his full potential.the next try was for Jordan Fairgreive who powered over line from close range with duckies defenders hanging off him. another fine kick in really bad conditions from Kyle made it 29-0. the weather was now playing major part in game with driving rain and hailstorm hampering the play. a quick burst in last 5 mins of half saw Kyle eEntwistle cross for another solo effort which he well deserved. this was the last act of first half, at which point after much disscusion with match officals and coaches it was decided to call halt to proceedings as pitch was getting to dangerous to play on . this was such a shame as a lot of said we could have watched that all day, as everything just clicked. the lads were a real credit to themselves and rossendale rufc. we debateed all way home and could not pick anyone individual for man of match as everybody playeed fantastic . a very special performance from a team growing in confidence.
