away to tarleton

rossendale made the trip to tarleton for this tough away fixture. we always knew it was going to be a steep learning curve this season and hopefully the boys have learnt some valuable lessons this morning . playing against a much bigger team , rossendale were soon under pressure as tarleton took advantage of early nerves to post 2 quick tries in ten mins.luckily only 1 was converted dale rallied and managed a couple of attacks but were met by some outstanding defence . two more unconverted tries made it 22-0 at the turn around . some tactical changes at half time seemed to work for a short period and dale put tarleton under some pressure, but lacked the killer finish for all the hard work. 3 more tries , but only 2 conversions soon followed to take the final tally to 41-0. even the margin appears great on paper the rossendale boys showed great spirit against a much more settled side who according to there coaching staff have been together for a long period of time . rossendale can take some good points away from this game especially the forward play of georgelukaszyk who once again led from front . Ben cameron again stood out with some awsome tackleing , along with jack horrocks. a special mention should go to felix ellis who switched to full back in second half , and at times must have felt like he was trying to stop a tidal wave as the attacks came thick and fast, but he stuck to the job fantastically. we still need to learn to tackle from waist down and therefore stop opposition from running with ball. all in all a good attempt against much more sterner opposition than they were used to last season. if they carry on with the spirit and drive they have shown then things will get better. great effort lads, the rossendale award for man of match goes to jack horrocks.
