In their penultimate match of the season they outscored their opponents by nine tries to four. The elusive running of Will Sharratt was at the centre of the victory but was ably assisted by all his team mates to score an encouraging win against a team from a higher league. Sharratt completed a hatrick of tries and kicked five conversions.
Other try scorers were from the improving winger Toby Dalton, Paul Hughes Tom Bedlow 2, his second following a lovely dummy kick and side step. Rossendale’s final try saw Nicholas Street round off a flowing handling movement, albeit with the home side reduced to fourteen following illegal use of the boot. A cooling shower was a relief at the final whistle as the valley lads now look forward to their end of season “whistle stop tour” down the East Lancs to take on Liverpool St Helens this Sunday.
