Following last week's draw at Birkenhead Park 19-19, coach Peter Greenwood rang the changes to personnel both in the forwards and a re organising of the three quarter line with a new half back combination installed. It certainly payed off with Dale in the ascendency from the start.
They opened the scoring with man of the match Paul Hughes touching down from close range followed by a great piece of skill from captain Tom Bedlow. From his new fly half position Bedlow executed an excellent crossfield kick for full back Will Sharratt touching down wide out on the right. Bedlow then crossed later in the half for his own try, which Sharratt converted.
The second half saw no repeat of their demolition of Northwich in their last home game. Although playing with the advantage of the slope Dale failed to turn possession into points. The visitors to their credit refused to give up and competed to the end. They however could do nothing about the pace of right wing Danny Schofield who went over in the corner. It was left to center Fraser Chadwick to complete the scoring when he cut through the Eccleshall backline to score under the posts. Sharratt converted.
This weekend Rossendale’s youth make the short journey to Blackburn in a top of the table clash.Kick off 2pm.
