Rossendale 43 - 3 Glossop and Marple

Rossendale senior colts followed up their recent victories over Fleetwood and Aldwinians to make it three wins on the bounce with a comfortable victory over Glossop/Marple.

The visitors, due to lack of numbers, are a amalgamation of two teams but even so were no match for the rampant Dale. Although early on when the visitors opened up with a penalty to take the lead and threatened to make it an interesting afternoon, it wasn’t long before the valley lads showed everybody what they could do. A nicely weighted pop pass by left winger Adam Hill was received by second row forward Matthew Ringland who gleefully galloped over to open the scoring for Dale. Fly half Will Sharratt kicked the conversion. Rossendale’s second try saw centre Tom Bedlow run a terrific line to burst through the defence to score under the posts. Sharratt converted 14-3. The centre pairing of Bedlow and Jack Bibby were on fire as the latter showed great strength to score Rossendale’s third try. With that the visitors initial enthusiasm died somewhat as Dale turned round eager to impress their coaching team. Further tries followed in the second half a second each from Bibby and Bedlow followed by close range efforts by Jordan Lord and his first of the season by Leo Freschini, who with fellow back row forwards Matt Fenner and Nic Street were industrious throughout. Sharratt completed the scoring with one more conversion. Prop forward Danny Rylance showed great power in both the loose and the tight play.

Next Sunday the team will face a much stiffer test away at Liverpool St Helens, k.o 2.00pm.
