SOUTHPORT 5 v 0 ROSSENDALE No rest for the team it was a straight turn around into our next game and again some formidable opponents in Southport and again certainly one of the top sides in the area.
But if Preston did'nt know much about us, nor did Southport until the game got started. This was a clean hard fought game that could have easily gone either way. Again against a big side our scrum held and infact started to dominate proceedings. Both Props Sean Smallridge & Joe Simpson getting the drive on with ease and being helped by either Derek Bulling and Kieron Pearson. The Front Row is now becoming a very competative part of the team and making selection very difficult. It is good to see the respect each player in the front row has for each other and was good to see pats on the back all round when they won a scrum against the head and when they drove one scrum to ground. Our rucking again let us down a bit some rucks were good and some poor leaving George faced with three oncoming forwards. If we start rucking to our capabitlity and with George stealing the oppositions ball for fun there will be some big results coming our way next season But in the end the little bit of luck went Southport's way and the narrowest of wins went to Southport.
Hold your head up high again team the Southport Coach said to me "besides Manchester you are the strongest side we have come across all season" this is something to be proud of
