The Rossendale team tackled & fought hard for possession & were a match for their opponents at all times but, the Vale of Lune had the edge in moving the ball out wide & it was this tactic which gave them the edge & the ability to score all five of their try's.
The match was played over three 15 minute periods with the weather worsening as the match progressed. The rain eventually coming down sideways.
Vale of Lune scored twice in the first 2 periods but failed all 4 conversions under breezy conditions. They would have scored 2 try's in the final period as well but for a stunning try saving tackle from Dan Dunham right on the corner post. They did however manage to convert the final try to add the 2 points.
The Coaching Team were full of praise for the competitive nature that this young Rossendale side demonstrated. They awarded Forward of the Match to Joe Bedlow who usually prefers playing in the backs but proved his worth up front today. Oliver Leah was named Back of the Match for his strong defence & attacking skills. The Coaches decided not to award Man of the Match this week as they felt every member of the team could have taken this honour such was the commitment shown by all players.
Final score Rossendale 0 - Vale of Lune 27
