Awesome results!

Due to half term, Rossendale only managed to scrape together 10 players for this 3 way fixture against a large squad from Preston Grasshoppers and significant numbers from Burnley. What Rossy lacked in number, they made up for in heart and skill as they put together three wins from three matches.

Neither Preston nor Burnley could live with the strong teamwork and impressive line speed from Rossendale which constantly lead to tries and a series of mistakes by the opposition.

First up were Preston's B team where Rossendale started quickly and aggressively to lead 15-0 at half time. First half tries from Patrick, Shaun and Ryan following impressive teamwork were met without reply from Preston before a little rally from the opposition made the score 15-5. A further try by Shaun cemented the win.

Next came Preston's A team which had noticeably larger players! Again Rossendale showed no fear and constantly disrupted Preston's attacking line with wave after wave of pressure. Strong tackles by Ryan, Henry and Patrick caused a series of Preston mistakes and when Rossendale regained possession they supported each other well and passed the ball to great effect. Rossendale lead 10-0 at half time trough tries from Spencer and Patrick. Preston were the next to score but despite significant pressure from Hoppers, a poweful and mazy run by Henry to score the try of the match, added to Rossendale's tally. A late try by Hoppers could prevent Rossendale running out 15-10 winners.

Star Player against Preston was Ryan, try of the match was scored by Henry and tackle hero was Patrick.

Finally came Burnley fresh from a 15-10 win over Preston's B team. Despite tiring legs and an injury to Spencer, who had been very effective, Rossendale secured a comfortable victory 25-5. Leading 15-5 at half time through tries by Matthew, Ryan and Patrick, two further second half tries by Matthew and a sizzling try from Cameron confirmed a comfortable win.

Star player against Burnley was Matthew, try of the match was scored by Cameron and tackle hero was Marcus. A particular mention needs to go to Matthew for one barnstorming touchline run, smashing player after player out of his way to successfully cross the whitewash and secure his unanimous star player nomination.
