Rossendale 47 v Bolton 7

Rossendale a little depleted in numbers due to sickness managed to field a team against a good Bolton Outfit.
The Rossendale Lads carried on from last week with a very determined style of running rugby.
The first exchanges in the game were fairly evenly matched but once the Rossendale forwards got on top the backs looked good with some fine running rugby.
It was a real impressive team effort with the forwards winning good ball for the adventurous Rossendale backs to use to their advantage, and eventually broke through for the first of fly half Will Gledhill three tries, which was converted soundly by Oliver Molloy.
From the restart Bolton kicked deep and a near on length of the field run resulted in a fine try scored by George Allen dually converted by Oliver Molloy.
This game was contested by two teams who’s real ambition was to win and from some great forward pressure in the scrum and quick ball Will Gledhill went over to score leaving it 21 – 0 at the half time interval.
Bolton started the second half the strongest and from a poor Rossendale scrum scored their first try of the game which was converted.
This seemed to spur the Rossendale Lads on after two really strong runs by the prop forward Joe Simpson he broke the line for the second week running to score an impressive try again converted by Oliver Molloy.
The Bolton restart was long and the ball was collected by Will Gledhill who stepped inside two men and then outside one to score a full length of the pitch individual try which capped a fine Man of the Match winning performance. This try was coverted by Ellis Murray.
Rossendale lads had now got into to top gear and were now unstoppable running ball wide at every opportunity which eventually resulted in Oliver Molloy going over for a try converted by Ellis Murray.
Rossendale had the last say in this tough encounter and eager as ever to score the Rossendale lads could not break the Tough Bolton defence until George Allen and Jude Ferrie emerged fighting for the same ball from a ruck end both went over holding the ball again converted by Ellis Murray.
This turned out to be a comfortable victory to Rossendale’s unbeaten run but credit must go to the visitors for making this into another tough game.
Man of the Match went to Will Gledhill for a fine individual performance and Most Improved Played to Aidan Hopkinson who was playing his first game for the club.
The Improvement in this team is immense and week by week the new players turning up show real positive signs for this Rossendale age group.

Regards Ian
