Heading for hopefully a sunnier climate Rossendale travelled South to Sale Scorpions in the hope of leaving the bad weather behind.
Rossendale full of confidence continued their strong run with an excellent start scoring in the first couple of minutes courtesy of in form Olly Molloy and duly converted. Rossendale proved too much for the home side with 6 tries scored before half time and 4 after. We missed one conversion but will let Olly off after a great hatrick. Well done to Ellis as well for his conversions as well!
This was a real team effort and everyone played their part. Will Gledhill showed a great turn of pace and the hindsight to swap the play scoring a good try.
Man of the match went to George Allen who led the team very well and scored a hatrick himself which was championed by the two Sale Coaches.
Joe Saunders who on his first ever contact game raced the length of the field showing some sidesteps that many a pro would have been proud of. Well done for getting most improved player.
For those of us there we witnessed some great sportsmanship from our team to both our own players and there's which was great to see.
The pack played well and Joe Simpson got two tries for the forwards route one and took half the Sale side with him ably abetted by Shaun and Derek. The line out was well contested and Rossendale stole some good ball, but in the scrum we were more than matched.
The referee controlled the game very well and set a great example of how to ref flowing rugby.
To Sale's credit they never gave in and despite being a number of tries down and terrible weather they were very courageous. Well done to Andy and his lads.
As for the facilities they were first class and the Rossendale lads could only dream of having facilities like this. However they made the most of them !
After such a good team performance I will have to say well done to you all ... Shaun, Derek, Joe Simpson, Ben, Jude, George, Will, Oliver, Joe Saunders, Natasha, Nathan, Callum, Kieran and Ellis !!
We travel next week to Bury so let's keep playing the way we are attractive rugby and plenty of smiley faces!
