It was nice to be at home for a change.
This is one of the fixtures during the season that I have enjoyed and today was no exception. Big Thanks to Andy and his lads for such an entertaining game. I was really impressed by the way Ashton played against us at the start of the season and that we would not be let down by another good Ashton side today. It is good to see even though another club with a relatively small squad in numbers like ourselves what can actually be achieved. In fact I think that if Aston had the Physical size of our lads that they would be more than a match for us. Thanks Again Andy and look forward to fixtures next season.

After beating Ashton away earlier in the season Rossendale fancied their chances of completing the double.
Playing their first home game on the senior pitch this season the under 11’s were looking forward to seizing there chance to play on the main pitch.
The early exchanges were tough with some good tackling from both sides. Rossendale forwards started to increase the pressure with their bigger forwards slowly taking control and supplying good ball for the backs to run with.
The forward pressure started to tell and for all his hard driving runs Joe Simpson broke through and scored the first try of the game converted by Oliver Molloy.
Ashton had their own chance to score shortly after but some fine defensive work and big tackles prevented the score. One of the Highlights of the day for me was to see Nathan Tattersall dumping his opposite man in touch with real aggression.
From the clearance a great driving run from Jude Ferrie ended up just short of the line and George Allen managed to crawl through the gap to score. Making the score 12 -0 to Rossendale at half time.
Rossendale could have closed this game out within minutes of the restart but a lack of discipline in their attacks and some poor ball retention and rucking cost them the score. Rossendale could quite easily have scored a further two or three tries but for a foot in touch or a marginally forward pass. Boys you will learn from these silly little mistakes you sometimes just need to be clinical to finish a try off.
Eventually through some to phases of play Rossendale worked the ball wide and Joe Simpson crashed through for his second try converted by Oliver Molloy.
Other scores should have followed but again lack of discipline and good Ashton defence prevented it leaving the Final score as 19-0 to Rossendale.
A little word to Joe Simpson who today scored his 15th try in his first full season a great start to what could be a real good career.
Most Improved Player : Ellis Murray well played today, good to see you got over the little bump in the first half and put in a solid second half performance.
Man Of the Match: Jude Ferrie well played I though you carried the ball with real aggression today and so unlucky not to score. I know George ended up scoring after you had done all the hard work but he will be the first to tell you that you made this try for him.

My Verdict on the Game
Overall I thought this was one of your worse performances of the year but a win is a win. Today we played well as 12 individuals, but the days where we have high scoring games are the game where we play well as a team (Remember how we blew Sale Scorpions and Bury away with twenty minutes of clinical team work)
I cannot believe that in training you can physically out ruck me and Dizzy yet against smaller opposition than yourself you cannot win clean ruck ball. Once again we have situations where George is wrestling for ruck ball.
Some of our tackling was good and hard other tackles were too high. We have been working on tackling in training at tackling ankles. How many ankle tackles did you see today? Just the one
Over the last few weeks our discipline has gone I told you that against TOC H we gave 21 penalties away in 40 minutes of rugby today was better but 14 penalties is far too many. Not only giving 14 penalties away but also giving a further 10 meters on three occasions for either throwing the ball away arguing back at the referee is just not acceptable.
Too many people are starting to mess about for example at half time had you listened to what I was going to say instead of chatting away to yourself you would have run out comfortable winners.
Things need to improve for the festival coming up our discipline in our performance and play will give us another festival to be proud of but poor discipline could be a bad end to a very very good season
Come on lads buck your ideas up.
