An Update from our Chairman

An Update from our Chairman

Paul Kilshaw25 Apr - 07:20

Nick Ingham has issued the following update to all players, coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters.

PROMOTION SECURED

Congratulations to all involved Players, Coaches, Committee, Supporters & the many Sponsors in all helping The Club gain promotion to The National Leagues (Level 4)

It hasn’t been an easy season with some unforeseen incidents occurring during the Season, the sad loss of Liam Canning earlier in the season then in February our Junior Club Chairman and assistant coach Ian Jones suffering a massive Heart Attack on the pitch. Ian is making steady progress in Rake Head Community Hospital in Burnley. The players overcame both these incidents showing great character and it didn’t deter them from their Goal of winning the League

With Ian been out of action the Club had to react fast: firstly we had to attain all the jobs Jonesy did and make sure they were covered & the members collectively made a great account of themselves. Special mention goes to

  • John McGovern who, with the help of a few other Junior members, took control of The Junior Section,
  • Paul Kilshaw & Andrew Birtwistle for their assistance on Match days plus many more who stepped up to fill some of his roles.

Congratulations to the 2nd & 3rd Teams for fulfilling their Fixtures this season - an onerous task but, with the leadership of DC & Dax, they will hopefully both finishing mid table.

Looking forward there are many issues that need addressing before the start of next season:

Firstly the dire state of the Marl Pits Changing facility, this has hopefully been addressed, and my thanks to Ian Cosens for his determination and persistence to get some action from Rossendale Borough Council and with the support from some members, I have been assure that we will have a much improved facility ready for Preseason.

Secondly Promoting and raising the profile of Rosendale Rugby Club within the community, to help achieve this goal I am pleased to announce the Club has appointed Danny “DC“ Collins to the roll of Director of the Community game. His role will involve Promoting the Club within the Community & the Local schools, assisting with the day to day running & coaching of the 2nd & 3rd Teams and also help in overseeing the Junior section of the Club. He will need help and I am sure he will be contacting (or even press ganging!) individuals to assist him, but if you are able to help please contact DC. This is a very important role in securing the future development of our Club.

As I have said at numerous AGM the committee needs help to maintain the successful running of Our Club the average age is over 65 so we need assistance to continue the longevity of the Club, including:

  • promoting the Club on Social media this is something well out of our depth
  • organising more Social events for both Players & supporters - we have a great facility here let's use it to our advantage

On Saturday we have the finale to the season. The 2nds & 3rds are both playing at Home with 3pm KOs, followed by the Presentation evening at the Club starting at 7pm - please support our Players for the effort they have all put in.

I will hopefully do a monthly update preseason to keep you all informed of the progress we are making to maintain the success of our great Club.

Regards

Nick Chairman
