Rossendale RUFC are delighted to announce Five new additions to the existing squad for the 1st XV Squad for the 2019/20 season.
Tom Bedlow, who has returned to his home club after a successful spell with Sedgley Park, is a highly talented centre with strong attacking and defensive qualities.
Chris Mayor joins us bringing a wealth of experience at the top level of the game, a Premiership winner with Sale Sharks then several seasons at Wasps. Following his full time professional career, he joined Sale FC and played for Lancashire in the 2018 Bill Beaumont Cup winning side, Chris is an accomplished outfield back.
Also in the Backs we welcome pacey winger Damon Hall. Damon is a proven try scorer for Vale of Lune and showed his pace and nose for the line for Lancashire in this seasons County Championship campaign. Kane Bevan a gifted half back also rejoins us from Sedgley Park These players are exciting additions to the backline augmenting our existing talented pool of players.
Upfront Dan Rylance, rejoins the Stags from Sheffield RUFC. Dan is a technically excellent prop and ball carrier as well as possessing a strong all round game.
Also returning to join his brother Tom, is Kieran Allen. Kieran has been at Sedgley Park for a couple of seasons and has really developed his talent as a back row. He will also be overseeing the fitness element of training at the club.
The majority of last seasons 5th placed squad are staying with the club notably key players skipper Dom Moon,Phill Mills,Nick Flynn, Tom Jones, Jack Wilkinson, Tom Allen,Sam Greenwood,Drew Frey, Jordan Lord, Rob Bramhall, Matt Ringland, Scott Marshall and Tom Earnshaw upfront. In the backs our excellent half backs Harry Mouldings and Lewis Allen have committed, we also have George Peel, Lewis Pattisson, Matt Blackman, Tom Wareing, Tom Leader, Jake Foster, Oliver Molloy and several other players from Myerscough who will be joining the senior squad. These players will augment the excellent group of 2nd XV players under Coach ? Manager Andrew Birtwistle and Ian Cousens. The 3rd XV will continue to , progress Sam Greenwood and Clive Balchin again looking after this squad.
We also say farewell to two players who have joined Kirby Lonsdale. Jack Ward, who has had three seasons in the midfield with us and certainly when at the top of his game was a formidable presence at inside centre, all the best for the future Jack and thanks for your contribution.
Reece Tomlinson was the enforcer in the pack , but much more he is a gifted line out specialist and talented all round player. Reece has had four excellent years with us, showing great commitment travelling from Kendal rain ,hail or shine. He was also a popular figure in the squad in charge of fines and like Ward always at the centre of social activities.
Reece also represented Lancashire at Twickenham twice during his time with us. Both families also were great supporters of The Stags at home and on the road.
Thanks Reece and all the best for the future.
Finally we say a sad farewell to club stalwart and highly popular player Simon Walker. Simon has suffered two nasty fractures to a key bone in his hand and any further damage could have a serious impact on his professional career outside the game. So ,reluctantly , he has hung up his boots. Simon went to Sedbergh School and played for his home club Morpeth before joining Rossendale and having an illustrious career at loose head and definitely a Marl Pits favourite.
However, he will stay involved with the squad on the management and coaching side which is great news.
We still have opportunities for new players to join the club, especially exciting is the 2nd XV is now competing at Premiership level in the NW leagues. Andrew Birtwistle the 2nd XV coach is keen to bring in new players to his squad and we certainly will welcome players who wish to be part of the club going forward.
Pre season training starts on Thursday 4th July at the Marl Pits & 7pm start.
Off Field we are still looking for various Sponsors From Match Day , Player Sponsorship, Match Day Sponsorship ,Pitch side advertising and Playing Kit
