Convincing wins for both teams against strong opposition. Under 8s remain undefeated.

West Park arrived early with an U8s team and two U7s teams looking like a well drilled and organised outfit. It was decided to play the 7s first, with their teams playing a half each.

The teams were quite evenly matched with the scores going point for point, no team getting the upper hand. Stand out players for Rossendale were the more experinced players Cameron and Charley but new to the team Tyler played a fantastic game, earning the nomination for Man of the Match. All players played well, new boys Henry and Jack noticably improving as the game went on - a fantastic pass from Jack set up a try for Tyler, this was commented upon by West Park's coach. Final score Rossendale 8, West Park 6

The U8s started strongly, going several points clear by half time. Some really good interplay between some of the players who played last season was pleasing to see, I saw Ieuen and Jason do a clever loop pass, as taught in training. Players new to the club this year such as Michael, Tom W, Tom L and Luke played as if they have been playing for years. Almost every aspect of the game was executed well - supporting the player with the ball, passing whilst moving, catching whilst moving.

The try of the match must go to Tom Whittaker, Ieuen made an amazing run from deep in his own half, beat all of their team, beat them all again for good measure but was tagged just 1 metre short - but appearing on his shoulder like an All Black was Tom to take the pass and score - well done both of you!

Man of the Match award went to Luke Entwistle, Luke lead by example as captain for the day and encouraged all of the team in defence and attack.

Final score for the U8s - Rossendale 12, West Park 6

The only real area to work on is the tagging, but I have a few ideas to improve this. Well played all of you, you can be very proud of your performance today
