This was not a game of rugby but an almost total annihilation as Rossendale posted 106 points over Cumbrian visitors newly promoted Penrith.

The home side ran in sixteen tries with Sam Lothian bagging six, Tom Bedlow and Lewis Allen went over for two each with Ryan Carlson, Jake Edge- Spedding, Charlie Murray, Liam Canning and Joe Burns and John Tuia in for one apiece to make up the quota. Allen was also on song with thirteen conversions.

All the tries were top quality with the Marl Pits side almost scoring at will although to give the visitors credit, they never stopped trying and managed two tries both going to Adam Howe and converted by Matt Seron.

Added to this Rossendale played most of the game with just thirteen men with prop Roland Marki red carded after just fifteen minutes.
It was 54-0 at the interval with the home side showing no mercy in the second half as they ran in a further 52 points.

Of the tries scored the pick of the bunch fell to Ryan Carlson who backed up a break by Zak Stephens who came from inside his own ‘22’ before putting Carlson away who had come up in support on the inside to take the scoring pass.

From a penalty line out it was Stephens again who opened up the Penrith defence with a searing run to get Lothian over with a break by Curtis Strong creating the opportunity for Burns to add a second to his tally.

The result keeps Rossendale in third place behind league leaders Blackburn who were 43-3 winners at home to Anselmians and Macclesfield who beat there local rivals Sandbach 12-41at Bradwell Road. Both sides still remain undefeated with Rossendale having just lost one away to Blackburn earlier in the season.

Rossendale have a very tough fixture this coming Saturday, away to second place Macclesfield where their result last Saturday will mean nothing when they visit Priory Park. However a win would see them overtake their Cheshire rivals and move up to second in the Regional One Northwest table.
