The home side took the early score with a try from Craig Harvey converted by James Annetts but Rossendale hit back with a try from Leyton Taylor, the prop being driven over from short range and took the lead with a try from George Peel off a well worked move down the blindside and some good handling to put the winger in space.
However a penalty from Annetts levelled matters at 10-10 before tries from Robbie Pearl and James Reeves both converted by Annetts afforded the home side a 24-10 advantage.
Nathan Peel clawed a try back, the debut winger backing himself to take on the Wirral defence but further tries from Danny Harvey and a second for Pearl, both converted by Annetts who also slotted a penalty sealed the win.
With three tries already in the bag Rossendale went 'hunting' for a bonus score and having exerted pressure in the Wirral '22' Ryan McKibbin forced his way over for the much needed bonus point.
