It has been a long time coming after, by Rossendale's standards, a somewhat lethargic start to the season but this win was straight out of the 'top drawer', a 50-26 seven try thrashing of Cheshire outfit Lymm and a result that moves the east Lancashire side to 5th place in the National Three North table.
With the Albinson brothers and close season signing Sam Atiola out injured consultant coach Mark Nelson had used his good offices to bring in half back Lewis Allen on loan from National One side Fylde and he certainly made a difference.
Lymm took the lead with a converted try but a penalty from Steve Nutt got Rossendale underway before an interception by Chris Frodsham and good work by Danny Collins provided the opportunity for George Peel to cross for his side's opening try and the lead, Nutt on hand with the conversion.
A free kick quickly taken by Collins carried on by Paddy Pole got Allen over for the second, Nutt again successful with the extras.
Lymm replied with a second converted try but Rossendale went in at the interval 17-14 ahead.
The second half however belonged to the home side. A pick up at the back of a scrum brought a try for Collins and from a catch and drive Ryan McKibbin, standing out from the pack was put over by James Bramhall for the bonus score.
With a Lymm player shown a red card Rossendale took full advantage and from a kick to the corner by Nutt, Peel was first there to bring up the fifth.
Lymm pulled a try back but from a scrum 10 metres out McKibbin picked up to put Collins in for his second.
The visitors hit back with a fourth converted try but it was Rossendale who rounded off the scoring with this time Collins picking up at the back of a scrum to put McKibbin in for the seventh, Nutt adding four more conversions.
