Despite the result against the league leaders this was a spirited performance by understrength Rossendale who perhaps deserved somewhat more than the scoreline would suggest. With Danny Collins forced to withdraw before the kick off and with Paddy Pole moved to No8 necessitating a further 'shift' around in resources this was certainly not the ideal start for the home side.
And so it proved as Tigers opened with a try from Will Bennett after the visitors had stolen a ball from a Rossendale line out. Mark Ireland slotted the conversion before a kick and chase brought a try for Liam Wallace to put the Yorkshire side 0-12 ahead.
However just before the break a penalty to touch by Steve Nutt and a catch and drive brought just reward with a try for Jordan Lord.
Although Rossendale defended valiantly throughout the second half and managed to hold out to the 77th minute two tries by Tigers from Wallace, his second and Pete Swatkins converted by Ireland sealed the win in the visitors favour.
