With Danny Collins, the Albinson brothers and Ryan McKibbin all unavailable through injury this was always going to be a tough test for the Rossendale youngsters. Yet although they failed to score a point and lost 34-0 no one can criticise the effort and commitment of the side on the field.
It could have been more save for some superb defensive effort and if a number of chances could have been turned into points it would have been a far better reflection on the outcome which certainly flattered the home side
It was 28-0 at the interval for Lymm through tries from Will Baldwin, Aaron Rashid and Richard McEvoy who crossed for two as well as slotting all four conversions.
Rossendale had more of the game in the second half and although they could not get over the line, managed to limit the opposition to just two penalties from the boot of McEvoy.
There is no doubt that Rossendale are a side in transition and although back in seventh place they do have games in hand on all the other sides in the league and with Burnage at home this coming Saturday and another home fixture the following week, a re-arranged game against Stockport, they should be able to make up some ground baring in mind also that seven of the remaining ten games are at home.
