All things being equal they should get a home play-off but with the top of National Three Midlands being so tight it could be anyone of the top four clubs from that league.
This was a hard fought win and although the home side enjoyed a 21-3 lead at the interval, with two men in the sin bin in the second period, it was very strong and spirited defence that saw them hang onto the lead, holding the opposition to just a penalty and a converted try.
Rossendale opened with a penalty try after the Hull scrum half had been penalised for pulling a driving maul down, Steve Nutt adding the conversion.
From quickly taken tap penalty by Sam Atiola from 20 metres out and some great forward play from the pack, Alex Isherwood was on hand to take the scoring pass for the second, Nutt again on hand with the conversion.
A superb break from Duncan Tout created the opening for Atiola to go in for the third, Nutt of course adding the conversion.
In the closing minutes Hull managed to pull back a penalty for 3-21 at half time.
From attack to defence in the second half with both George Peel and Jack Ward shown yellow the 13 had to 'dig in' and limit the opposition to just the penalty and the converted try.
