Two games remaining and Rossendale now are well clear in second place in National Three North after beating Waterloo 12-41 at Blundellsands with a home tie in the play-off the prospect on 29th April. Who they will play is still undecided as the top of National Three Midlands is so tight that it could by anyone of four clubs!
Playing some of their best rugby this season Duncan Tout opened the scoring after the centre broke through right from the kick off for a try close to the posts, Steve Nutt adding the conversion.
A break by Nutt and a neat kick ahead over the line by Sam Atiola provided the opportunity for Jack Ward to race through to touch down for the second.
Forward pressure got Jack Wilkinson over for the third and with Nutt slotting the extras Rossendale were 0-19 ahead.
Waterloo came into the game just before the interval as some good handling created space for Tom Lavelle to 'steam up from full back to get his side on the scoresheet. Liam Reeve kicked the conversion for 7-19 at half time.
Waterloo began the second period showing some enterprising rugby and again it was good hands that opened the way for Irwin Marderwall to run in for his side's second.
However as the Waterloo effort began to fade, a superb miss pass from James Bramhall put George Peel away for the fourh and the bonus point.
Taking the opposition on himself Ward added the fifth and his second. From forward pressure sucking in defenders Curtis Strong brought up the sixth and again with the Rossendale pack now in total control Jordan Lord made it seven, Nutt landing the conversion.
