Being four games in arrears it is difficult to assess Rossendale's true position so all they can do is keep winning until the fixtures begin to unravel as the season draws to a close.
This they did on Saturday with a bonus point victory from a game they controlled right from the first whistle.
A drive close to the line brought the opening try for Mills, Lewis Allen slotting the conversion.
Pocklington replied with a penalty from Dan Elliott but it was Mills again this time the openside breaking through the defence for a superb solo effort, Allen again on target with the conversion.
Still trying to make a game of it Pocklington got Owen Jackson over to close the half with Rossendale 14-8 ahead.
The second half was all Rossendale. Tom Leader brought up the third coming up on the outside from full back to finish off a sweeping move across the backline.
Ryan McKibbin added the bonus score powering over from five metres.
Allen added the conversion before George Peel got in on the act with a try wide out.
Fittingly it was Mills who rounded off a good afternoon's work breaking through the opposition defence for a well deserved third.
