After a stuttering start which saw Rossendale give away needless penalties conceding nine points, Rossendale’s experienced pack began to get the better of their younger opponents.
A catch and drive in the Morley twenty two produced a push over try for Danny Collins. Further Rossendale pressure saw scrum half Jamie Albinson scythe through.
Some weak Morley defence to score under the posts. Further tries followed for Collins Albinson and player coach Fourie to give Rossendale a comfortable lead and a try bonus point before half time.
Rossendale continued to exert further forward pressure after the break. Paddy Pole was particularly prominent in a number of attacks, eventually scoring a remarkable try himself when he took the ball off the boot of the Morley full back with one hand to touch down in the corner.
The introduction of new signing Steve Nutt at full back added a further dimension to Rossendale’s attacking options and further tries followed for Albinson, Collins and Dennison. Rossendale seemed to ease off the gas in the last quarter allowing Morley in for two tries which demonstrated what Morley were capable of if allowed to run the ball.
Young Will Sharratt had his best game to date at fly half landing six conversions and probing the corners with some intelligent kicking from hand.
This was a much better display from Rossendale but their task was made easier by some weak defending from a young and inexperienced Morley side who are in the process of rebuilding after some defections following relegation last season.
This Saturday Rossendale will face a much sterner task when they entertain fifth placed Lymm at Marl Pits, kick off 3pm
