Rossendale move up to fourth place in North Premier following a 26-0 win at home to Vale of Lune, their progress in part due to the defeat of Sandal by league leaders Hull, the first time this season the West Yorkshire club have had their colours lowered on their own patch.
On a day not particularly conducive to free flowing rugby Rossendale opened with a try from Jack Ward, Harrison Moulding taking a quick tap following an infringment at a scrum and spreading the ball wide for Ward to crash over.
James Bramhall slotted the conversion and from clean ball off the top of the line out and a neat run round between Bramhall and Moulding the scrum half took the inside pass to go over for the second, Bramhall again on hand with the extras.
With the home side now very much in control swift hands from quick ruck ball created the opportunity for George Peel to bring up the third.
With half time approaching a break by Matt Blackman and with Phil Mills supporting on the inside the back row went over to collect the fourth and the bonus point.
The second half proved a desultory affair with neither side adding to the scoreline.
