Blaydon ran in a total of nine tries to inflict one of the heaviest defeats on the east Lancashire club for some time. With a lack of organisation in defence with too many players slipping off tackles and a lack of cohesion in attack some serious analysis is likely to take place at Marl Pits this comiing week.
The home side were 28-5 up and had secured the bonus point by the interval through tries from Dan Taylor, Jamie Guy, Nathan Daley and Fraser Wilson all converted by Guy to a try for Rossendale from Tom Jones, the second row benefiting from a quick tap penalty by Harrison Moulding and good handling between Curtis Strong and Tom Waring.
The second half offered little respite as Wilson went over for his second followed by Dan Marshall, Rob Lenderyou, Harry Borthwick and Keith Loughlin, Guy adding four move conversions.
Rossendale did respond with a try from Luke Foster on the back of some forward pressure and the ball spun along the line for the winger to go over in the corner.
Rossendale however remain in ninth place due to all the sides' below save for Lymm who won away at Kirkby Lonsdale, going down. Also, on 47 points they are still 19 points above the relegation zone and with some 'softer' fixtures coming up they should be able to get back to winning ways and get that lift in confidence which is desperately needed.
