Dale sealed an emphatic win with 3 late second half tries. Morley, a tough Yorkshire side, posed a potential thorn in the side for a Dale side lacking form and momentum from the previous weeks 6-6 draw away at Lymm.
The first half was a mixed bag for both sides. Both sides had plenty of possession in the opposing 22 and looked threatening. The score line was opened by a Steve Nutt penalty from bang in front. Minutes later equalised by a penalty kick from the Morley winger. However, It didn't take long for Dale to convert pressure into a try; Jamie Albinson darting over following a jinking run. Morley hit back with another penalty kick after several attempts at goal during Tim Fourie's stint in the sin bin. Leyton Taylor notched up another try late on in the half from a maul and James Bramhall, on his second game back from injury, dummied and powered his way over the line to finish Dales first half scoring.
The second half started off tense; following an early score from Danny Collins, converted by Nutt, Morley hit back with several penalties and an interception leading to a try under the posts. With the score line tied Dale opted to extend the lead with another Nutt penalty. This galvanised the home side to tighten up, play more phase rugby and in short it worked. Tries subsequently followed from Johan Goosen and second scores from Danny Collins and Jamie Albinson.
In a game that could have easily troubled Dale and cost them vital points, they produced some great rugby in patches giving them lots of take into next weeks home game against Chester.
