Rossendale got their National Three North campaign underway
beating Stockport 30-15 at Marl Pits, but it was not until the second half that they showed anything like their true form.
Rossendale were definitely slow out of the blocks and with Danny Collins and later Leyton Taylor spending time in the sin bin allowed the visitors to take a 0-15 in at half time with two tries from Myles Hall plus a conversion and a penalty from Josh Longmore.
In the second half Rossendale came out obviously playing to a different script and after steve Nutt had slotted a penalty, took total control to run in five tries without reply.
Paul Keys went in for the first, forcing his way over from a pick and drive by the pack. A break by Tom Albinson set up the second for Tom Bedlow, given space on the outside as the ball was swung wide. Steve Nutt gathered an interception to scoot over for the third, with Leyton Taylor picking up the bonus score, taking a delightful popped up pass following a break by Jamie Albinson. The fifth was a brilliant solo effort by Anthony Bingham with James Bramhall adding the conversion.
