Greenwood Road has always been one of North Premier’s more difficult venues and so it proved yet again as the home side ran in a total of seven tries through the course of the afternoon. The home side took the early score with a try from Leon Turnbull converted by Luke Armstrong for a 7-0 lead.
Rossendale replied with a try from Liam McGovern, the full back timing his run into the line with perfection to take advantage of an attacking scrum 22 metres out, the former Sale player also adding the conversion to level the scores.
Billingham however crossed again before the interval, Mike Walton claiming the honours, Armstrong again on the target with the conversion for 14-7 at half time.
In the second period, further tries for Billingham form Martin Hopley, Anthony Jackson, Ryan Kirkbride, Armstrong and Peter Evans all converted by Armstrong took the score beyond reach.
Yet into time added on a break by Curtis Strong backed up by Lewis Allen opened up the field for Kane Bevan to go over from the 22, McGovern adding the extras.
Rossendale have no game this coming Saturday but will return to action on Saturday 23rd April at home to Blackburn for their final league game of this season.
