Not the best of the results but a creditable performance
nonetheless and to take a bonus point with a fourth try against
a Sale side who are very definite favourites for promotion
giving some hope of better fortunes to come.
Rossendale took the initiative right from the kick off with a
try from Danny Collins after tight play created the opportunity
for the back row to exploit a gap in the Sale defence.
Sale hit back with a try to level matters but the home side
re-took the lead with a try from Jamie Albinson, the scrum half
breaking from 20 metres out and although just tackled short
quick recycling gave him the chance to nip over for his side's
second., Sam Lothian adding the conversion.
Just before the break Sale narrowed the gap with a penalty from
Liam McGovern for 12-8 at half time.
The second half proved hard work for the Marl Pits side as Sale
upped the tempo and the intensity adding a total of 27 points
before Rossendale came back into the game with a second try for
Collins off a quick tap penalty by Albinson with Paddy Pole
providing the link, the try also converted by Lothian.
Although Sale went further ahead a with a converted try Paddy
Pole brought up the deserved bonus score with a try, again from
a quickly taken tap penalty
