If a side is still looking for their first win of the season
West Yorkshire is probably not the best of hunting grounds to
turn things around and so it proved as Rossendale went down once
more losing 17-14 away at Cleckheaton. True the side had been
handicapped by injury from the beginning of the season and last
Saturday were still without four of what they would consider
their regular pack.
Yet going in at half time 7-7 they must have thought they were
in with a chance.
Rossendale were first to score through a try from Ryan McKibbin
peeling off from a penalty line out to maul his way over, Steve
Nutt on hand with the conversion.
Unfortunately for the visitors the home side hit back just
before the break with a try from Richard Piper converted by Ross
Hayden to level the scores.
In the second half Rossendale took the lead with a try from
Paddy Pole off a catch and drive again converted by Nutt but a
penalty try converted by Hayden to level the scores once again
left it all to play but it was a late penalty from Hayden that
was to seal the win in the home side's favour.
