This was a great advert for rugby. Two sides gave it their all in the twenty degree Yorkshire winter sun. The game started at a frantic pace but once again Rossendale let the opposition go in for a soft opening converted try.
Dale were soon moving into top gear and Ilkley could not handle our attacking play despite some quality defencive tackling. Will Gledhill cut the defence apart for his first try of this year campaign this score was very quickly followed from the restart by Oliver Molloy breaking through from 50 meters to score.
Now in top gear the Dale lads were really taking the Ilkley team to task and the try of the game came when the forwards one two consecutive rucks at speed and a sweeping backs move with a superb miss pass from Joe Saunders saw Nathan Tattersall run in for a great try.
The second half saw the contest really tighten up and Ilkley scored under the posts. Although Rossendale were in controll for the majority of the second half you always though Ilkley would never give in until George Allen & Oliver Molloy put a clearance kick under pressure for Joe Simpson to pounce and score.
Great win the team really stepped up after the dissaponting showing a week ago.
