A beautiful late summer day in Lancaster saw the U13's battle a resilient home team from Vale of Lune.
From the kick-off the drama began immediately with a suspected broken nose for Thomas (later found not to be) making his first tackle of the season! After that things settled down to some great driving play through the middle and the home team succumbing to a number of penalties which gave us a footing for two tries to one by half time.
However, injuries on the pitch and a shortage of forwards, in particular, saw the home team start to overpower us and come back in the the second half far more strongly. Three tries in the second half for Vale to one for Logan on debut for us saw Vale hold on despite late pressure.
All in all a fantastic start to the season against a high quality opposition in a tough group for the Cup. Many positives to take forward in the coming weeks...
