Following hard on the heels of a close defeat at Vale last weekend there was a quiet determined air in the squad in the warm up for this Lancs Cup encounter with local rivals Rochdale.
A spirited start saw an early brace of tries but an unfortunate stop-start game with a lot of injuries for the opposition. At half time, however, a lead of five tries to two seemed to suggest the boys were home and dry. Not quite to be and the visiting team rallied as the boys started to fatigue and one or two key players began to pick up knocks on our side.
Holding on to the final whistle saw a hard won victory by seven tries to five. Well done for a lot of good play especially in the first half and some great stuff to work on in training and forthcoming friendlies.
