BIG test early in the season

I am sure many other clubs and sports suffer the effects of the season end, school holidays and player’s current constant distraction with Fortnite..., what this has to do with Rugby? Simple, 14 available players were, almost all, gulping air and dragging feet from the off, which, as we know, in physical sports rather than the virtual world, changes the game dynamic. The effects were visible in the (Rugby) game Sunday and held us back from capitalising on breaks, player support and presence in rucks. We'll work on this throughout the season and I am sure our overall fitness will increase.

That being said, fitness and game readiness is not everything and our boys put out a very admirable performance almost stopping Segley from finding the try line for a good 10-15 minutes of the first half, and similarly in the second..., Rossy U13's held good shape, put in some great tackles and stopped up a lot of the constant offensive barrage from the Segley team. Well Done boys - Great Effort!

Throughout the game our boys made the game difficult and although Segley did deservedly find the try line several times in the game it was made tough work by the hard working and determined Rossendale defensive line.

Segley are no doubt a quality team and probably the top outfit in the area, they brought a large squad and performed well on the day, so to keep the score in single figures should not be undervalued as a performance from Rossendale U13's, at this stage of the season and considering there was a few key Rossendale players out of action.., I am sure we all share the view the boys put in a great performance and lets look forward to another opportunity to play Segley later in the season and see how we progress!
