Getting better

Hello,

Couldn't possibly start without mentioning the weather. Maybe this had a hand in the team performance? Thanks parents and players and Segley Park for turning out on an awful morning..., typical Rossy weather, but we very much appreciate the resilience shown by all.

So the game...., First half was a really good spectacle, watching our players pull together a decent defence and offensive line and actually passing and playing like a team which was hugely satisfying to see. This resulted in lots of action in the middle of the pitch with slow and steady waves of movement as each team took possession and control of the play..., a hardy and 'weathered' 20 minutes or so in and the score line was looking pretty good, pretty amazing actually with just 1 try in Segley's favour in front of the Rossendale team, where we broke half time at 3-2. Well Done and a fantastic effort all round.

Brilliant game play from Mac, Will, Fin, Rhys - I loved the hold up on the try line, that's heart-breaking if you’re on the receiving end but there we are, all legal and above board, great knowledge and skill to execute - well done boys (Rhys gets the kudos for that I think).

Second half, for me, we lost a little focus and Segley, maybe changing their subs, changed their attacking game or maybe just fatigue from Rossendale, Segley managed to find the try line with a lot more ease than the first half and closed the game on a 6-2 win for Segley Park. The highlight for me second half was Alex's run from the very depths of our try posts to find some legs and space to pelt across the field (I know we should run forward) and then forward up to almost the half way line. What a dash! Great Alex well done.
Mack going from strength to strength and getting one of our try's is superb! I think a player to watch for the rest of the season as we build knowledge and skills.

Will really putting in a great first half with plenty of tackles, pace and aggression in ball carrying. Well done and let’s have more of it!!

Joey, Ethan, Bailey and Hugo - all working hard as usual disrupting the Segley Park team coming forward with the ball and also doing our best to infiltrate their tidy lines in our responses. Good job gents!

Ethan T, Tommy Lucas and Fraser great efforts also in support, a bit more confidence, communicating and getting stuck in and making an impact on the game and we'll really be making progress.

Our Scrum lads - well done, were impressive and I think we have only lost 1 scrum in all the games we've played. Great job Lucas, Fin, Ethan t, Joey, Will, Fraser (plus Hugo and Bailey on this occasion)

Apologies if I missed anyone - great effort all round all things considered on the day and a cracking performance against a quality side.

Were missing Kyle still our superstar ruck machine..., hopefully Kyle will be back for our next game when he’s well again. Get well soon mate!

We’ll aim, over the next few training sessions, to build on the team work and passing, rectify our lack of rucking and support but dare I say it there were definite moments in the game where things were clicking like a ‘proper’ rugby team. Well Done

Try Scorers: Mack (1) Hugo (1)
